Mt Abu, India and the Brahmakumaris

It will be a foggy dawn,

& one day I will be gone,

My seat will be empty;

[I tried my hand in a bit of poetry - the photo is actually from Mt Abu one foggy dawn in fact.]

Anyway the photos of Brahmakumaris' campus at Mt Abu are in one slide and the other is of the road from Ahmedabad to Mt Abu  & back.

It was raining so heavily all the time causing darkness, and I am yet to find out some people take wonderful rain photos without damaging their equipment!!!

What an organisation! Very much into education of Rajyoga... and very much organised!! I have been introduced to Yoga and all these Indian ways of life and Spiritual Attainment when I was at the age of 6. Let me confess that I do not practise Yoga or lead an ideal life. (Hey! Wait wait! It is not that I lead a sinful life either! Do not get any wrong ideas into your minds!!). But what I meant is that though I do not practice Yoga and all, I know the benefits of the same. When we talk of yoga that we usually talk about is it is a Physical exercise- external and internal both. Yes most yogic exercise that we talk about help us in in our physical well being - both external (muscles, suppleness, etc) and internal (liver/ kidney/backbones etc). But Rajayoga is something like Transcendental Meditation (by Maharshi Mahesh Yogi) -- it is an exercise of the Mind. Among all the groups that we have here in India, I found (with my limited knowledge but I am willing to bet on myself) Brahmakumaris is the only organised body that devotes its time to teaching Rajayoga.

This post is for Sujoy who seems to be liking my stupid photos!! hehe... well.. yes I am back from Mt Abu on 18th... and have got some photos.. though because of rain I could not get good ones.. and mostly it is of Brahmakumaris.... and I still need to edit them... I was back from Mt Abu and then went home and then came back ... while at home I just slept and relaxed. If only "papi pet ka sawal nahin hota"- I would have left my job and just slept off the remainder of my life!! To translate for those who do not know Hindi.. this means If only there was no worrying about our sinful stomach -- sinful because it wants food!! base very base!! hmmm!!

Well... since my new reader Sujoy is after me for some photos...... and since I am not ready yet with the editing.. being busy with this stupid life.... I will rather post something else ... well.. if my earlier message was looking ahead... why not one on looking back?

These are from my past... the eyes which made my heart once flutter and roll and jump and hiccup and blink and .. and .. and.... when it should not have!! ... while respecting her privacy.. I think I can host it here.. ... as an ode to my memories ... do the eyes beckon you too? Do they remind you of the sirens who brought the ships to their disaster?

Whatever people belonging to Chennai may say, it is nowhere compared to Bangalore- a beautiful city. Chennai on other hand is among the most dirty cities in India. Locals would like me to believe that Bangalore traffic is even worse, for eg, but while traffic at Bangalore is more than that of Chennai, the roads are much cleaner and there are footpaths for people and they are clean too. Not like Chennai where you find people on the roads and all dirt, debris, stones, and everything else on the road sides!! But look at Bangalore. [Sorry folks.. of Chennai.. ]

FOODS of India

As diverse as our country is it is but natural that the food habits too will be totally different from east to west and south to north. From the simple south Indian Dosa to the rich North Indian food reminiscent of the Mughal Rule we have everything. We also have international food cooked both in Indian and International styles. Meaning you can get Chinese Chowmein which will be nowhere near the Original that you get in China and will have used Turmeric Powder and local spices!! It all depends on which city you are and the type of Restaurant you are in. Obviously the five star ones will serve you authentic food and the cheaper versions can do anything, they can also spring a surprise on you by giving you something not found elsewhere at a cheaper and tastier version.

Here is my slide show not even one tenth complete.. but slowly over time I will build on it. I thought if I wait then it will be a long wait.. so as and when I shoot food I will add to the slide show.

And here are the pictures of Hogenakkal Falls. However you will not see much water falling over the rocks this time. Only in August there is plenty water to fall over the rocks in multiple water falls. But amazing!!

How to reach? You can drive down from Bangalore or from Chennai. It is 300 kms from Chennai, driving down the new toll road to Krishnagiri then turn left towards Salem to Dharmagiri. From Bangalore you drive down straight to these places via hosur.

I liked the Villages more than Chennai. Because they seemed to be very neat and clean - when compared to other villages in India- whereas Chennai compared to other Metros is ..hmm.. well... ]
